The Nigeria Power Sector Reform process has thrown open new vistas of opportunities to private sector participation within the Electric Power industry, which hitherto was a government monopoly.

We have been actively involved since the inception of the process and have acted for several business consortia by providing legal advice, bringing specialist insight and guidance to enable their successful participation in the industry. We are Legal Advisers to the Concessionaires of two major Hydro Power Plants as a result of the reform process. We have developed expertise in the sector and interface for our clients with the various stakeholders and regulatory agencies in the industry including the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE), Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), Ministry of Power, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Debt Management Office (DMO) Nigerian Bulk Electricity Trading Plc. (NBET), Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN), National Office for Technology Acquisition and Transfer (NOTAP) amongst others.

As a result of our work in this sector, we were appointed by the Association of Power Generation companies to act as the Secretariat and Legal Advisers for their advocacy platform. We continue to advice and act for project owners as well as financiers in the industry and we are actively involved in articulating advocacy for relevant policy direction to ensure the success of the Nigerian Electricity Sector Industry (NESI).
